As you know we are in the business to make money. If we were not then we would not be in business. I am writing today because my clients, I know they are not mean hearted, do not want me to make money. Here is the scenario:
We sold the 10K all inclusive package, they were thrilled! They added extra things and extra time and so forth. As adding the additional items to meet their requests the total amount of their wedding ended up to be just under $20K. They were thrilled. I gave them the rental contract, they signed it. I emailed them the proposal, they were happy. They issued the check and the next day we deposited it. 9 days later we receive an email from Jason stating that “…Christie and I haved decided such a wedding is truly not in our budget”.
Nine days is a long time in between the time the date was issued and the time a mention to cancel was given. During that time, I had set up their account in QuickBooks, our proprietary program, set up profile in our planning software, setup the purchase orders, wrote checks, mailed the deposit checks to the vendors that were going to be hired for the event. The appointment when they issued the check to sign the agreement, we sat for 2 hours discussing their wedding ideas and that was the second meeting. When they stated they wanted to cancel, obviously I wanted to set an appointment to discuss ways to bring their costs down. They refuse I told them after many emails that will refund the $2500 because the $1000 is non refundable. They refuse. I have an invoice of what the $1K went to and they still refuse. What do you think?
